Hi Everyone
I recently used a a little server in my dads office with OpenVPN to get into the network. This machine was also used as fileserver. My dad wants to get rid of this machine (to loud, to much energy, etc) so I enabled the AVM FritzBox VPN. This VPN is, as far as I know, based on IPsec. Now I cant see a way to connect to the network or import the configuration file with KNetworkManager. AVM provides a tool to connect to the network, but this is only available for windows. I also know that the NetworkManager is still under heavy development and here is also my question: are there any plans to include this kind of IPsec configuration for the VPN in this tool? |

Unfortunately KDE does not have an IPSec frontend available at this time.
You will need to use "nm-applet" which is the GNOME Network Manager frontend at this time unfortunately. You need to install the "nm-strongswan" plugin using your package manager to enable IPSec support for the GNOME network manager.

Thanks for that information.
I think I will wait for an official support in KDE because I dont like to mix desktops. When I need VPN I can just use Win 7 for now. |
