I've been using Pidgin for a while but with the latest 11.2 build of openSUSE I decided to try the KDE environment. I do like what I'm seeing, but as I've never used Kopete before I am seeing a couple of things that the program is doing that I can't find if this is typical or if something is wrong with my account.
First of all, once I sync my contacts list I do see my custom buddy lists, but where in Yahoo messenger I only have 7 contacts total, I'm seeing 100 contacts. It originally looked like my email contacts were appearing in the Kopete buddy list, but I have removed the contacts from both yahoo and have deleted the additional objects under Kopete and they keep reappearing. Second, I have an alternate ID that I use under yahoo, but I can't tell how to activate the alternate ID. Any suggestions? |

If you open Kopete's settings, then you should be able to add additional accounts ( which will show seperately, and allow you to be connected to multiple networks simultaneously )

I am having the same problem you have when it comes to contacts: In Kopete I have tons of contacts I have deleted a long time ago. They do not show up when I log in to Yahoo Mail or Yahoo's web based messenger, so I have no idea how to delete them. I do not have Windows available so I can not check in the windows based version of yahoo messenger. It looks like Kopete somehow picks up old deleted contacts from Yahoo. That's a problem indeed. |

Try opening KAddressBook, as Kopete may have added your contacts to it automatically ( to assist with integration with KMail, etc. )
