Konqueror and Java problem

Fri Nov 27, 2009 12:57 pm
At first, I wanna say HI! (My first post:) )

J have a problem with java in konqueror
Although in about:plugins shows that i have insalled java, it doesn't work.
http://www.java.com/pl/download/installed.jsp shows that in fact it's not installed :)
In Firefox everything is working fine, but i really wan't to get ridd of it :)

Code: Select all
java -version
java version "1.6.0_17"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_17-b04)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 14.3-b01, mixed mode)

I've googled the problem but haven't find any usefull information (most of them were outdated)

Have anybody had that kind of probelm? Maybe someone happened to manage it somehow?

Hope my english is understandable, I'm not a native speaker :)

To fix this issue, in Konqueror go to Settings > Configure Konqueror > Java & Javascript

Then at 'Path to Java executable, or 'java':' the textbox most likely just has java in it.
Change it to /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk/jre/bin/java Or at least that is where my java is installed. It might be different for you so you might have to hunt around.

Good for you trying to get rid of Firefox ;)

I've already tried that, for me it's /opt/java/jre/bin/java
But it still doesn't work
Maybe i'll try openjdk later. For now, i'm going for a beer xD
