Perhaps my distro (Gentoo) is still six months behind, and hasn't applied the patch for Yahoo, but I seriously doubt that.
I've been trying for about two weeks to get Kopete (v 0.80.2 on KDE 4.3.3) to connect to Yahoo on three different workstations, but it just won't. MSN/AOL/Google/Facebook work just fine. I can log into Yahoo with other clients. But Kopete always gives the "connecting" message, and the sets it to offline. Does anyone have any advice? |

I recompiled kopete with debugging activated, and matched on the messages that provided, I'm not the only one experiencing this problem.

I'm looking for a solution as well, apparently pidgin found a solution, which was imported to kopete, but I haven't seen any signs of it. I'm on Gentoo as well, so I don't know if this is just a Gentoo issue or a Kopete issue, but Gentoo seems to keep their repo's VERY up to date, which is why I love it. I think it took them three days to implement their ebuilds of KDE 4.3? Anyway, has anyone found a solution to this? This issue has been ongoing for quite some time and it's becoming quite a frustration.
P.S. This is one of the bug fix's I saw http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1264572 |

Have you tried changing the form that your username is entered as? Try username@domain or simply username.

Thank you for the reply! Yeah I just tried that recently, I also tried going through a couple different servers. I'm kinda puzzled at this. Does it work for you? |

I do not use Yahoo myself, thus I do not know if it works. You may wish to try checking to see if KDE 4.3.5 contains any fixes to this.

I have similar problems with Kopete. It worked fine for a while in slackware 10.1 and then quit.
I upgraded to slackware 12.2 and it worked fine for a while, then for no apparent reason, won't work. I have Kopete version 0.12.7 and KDE 3.5.10 curiously, I launched Kopete from konsole, and got some rather interesting messages, maybe this could help be the beginning to find an answer: Transfer ACCEPTED by: LoginTask Transfer ACCEPTED by: LoginTask QMetaObject::findSignal:ClientStream: Conflict with Stream::readyRead() Very strange! got a DCOPReply opcode, but we were not waiting for a rep ly! You may wish to check viewtopic.php?f=18&t=86030 also, since it has an interesting theory on why this happens. No idea if what it proposes works though.

Thank you! The suggestion there, to add the IP numbers to the local host file worked!

Spoke too soon. Kopete is just stuck in a perpetual "Connecting ..." loop now, instead of "Connecting" "Offline" "Connecting" "Offline" ...
