Help! Mobile Broadband issues!

Mon Dec 21, 2009 10:42 pm
Hey all.

Been attempting to get KDE working on my mobile broadband dongle...

The network manager recognizes my dongle...but keeps asking me for information about how to connect (number, P.I.N, etc)

I was not given this information, and after furthering my enquires, I WILL NOT be given this information :/

It's a T-Mobile device...anyone have any suggestions?

Can you supply the precise Manufactuer and Model, through the output of "lsusb" please? Also, try checking the output of dmesg and /var/log/NetworkManager.log after trying to connect. It may need firmware.

My build in mobile broadband device is working since I entered some information there. As number I used *99# and the other values from my mobile phone Internet profile.

But this is not a solution for missing firmware ;)

I know my device works in GNOME, but for the life of me, there are no details provided! They tell me it should 'auto-configure' so I shoudlnt need to know! Damn!

If the device works in GNOME without problems then the underlying systems clearly support this without problem. Please try and use the latest KNetworkManager possible, and file a bug report at bugs.kde.org aganist "networkmanagement".

You can use "nm-applet" to run the GNOME Network Manager utility.

It seems KDE (SC? Did I get that right?)'s network manager will be including a list in the 4.4 release.

On a (somewhat) related note, anyone know how to get Linux Mint 7 KDE using 4.3?
