Rich text/HTML/Markdown in Kopete

Thu Feb 25, 2010 2:33 am
As much as I love simplicity, there are simply occasions that call for rich formatting. My only solution to this problem seems to be to fire up an external application, format my text there, then copypasta. This process is time-consuming and imperfect for various other reasons. Okay, so after messing around a bit, I just found the rich formatting toolbar. Sigh. Anyway, that wasn't my primary concern, so I'll continue writing.

I happen to really like Markdown syntax, so I tried using Pipes to get it working in Kopete. By piping all sent messages through Maruku, I'm able to get HTML code representations of my desired results, but nothing I've tried has been able to convert that HTML code into formatted text.

So basically, is there any method I could use to format my text with Markdown/HTML? I suppose it's less of a dire problem now that I've enabled the formatting toolbar, but still something I'd like to do if at all possible. Thanks.
