Hi,

I have opensuse 11.2 with kde 4.4.1 on my laptop.
I want to connect to a nfs share on my pc upstairs.
I configured nfs-client using yast, resulting in this /etc/fstab entry:

Code: Select all
192.168.2.4:/home       /home/rinse/nfs nfs users,rsize=8192,wsize=8192,timeo=14,intr

this works: when i type mount nfs as user in Konsole, the nfs share is mounted.

Then i created an icon in Folderview, using RMB » Create new » Link to device » NFS. KDE recognized the nfs share entry in fstab and offered 192.168.2.4:/home as share and /home/rinse/nfs as mount point.

But when i click the icon, i get an error message: only root can mount

I created a workaround by adding a link to application on my desktop, with a command that first mounts the nfs share and then opens dolphin with the mount point.

But the link to device should work, so i wonder what i did wrong?

Regards, Rinse

This is likely a bug, probably in HAL judging by the message that does not check the users permissions before proceeding.
