Hi, I have properly configured Samba server which works quite good. I have been using config files so far but now I would like to use KDE dialogs to share folders. But it doesn't work.

I open properties of folder I want to share, click on 'Share' tab and there is following message:
You need to be authorized to share folders.

There is a 'Configure File Sharing' button bellow this message, so I click it. I enter my root password and a nice dialog appears. I enable file sharing in a local network and choose simple sharing, so that I dont' have to use root password every time I want to share something. Finally, I set that all users can share folders. I confirm the dialog.

However, the 'Share' tab in folder properties doesn't change at all. There is still 'You need to be authorized' message. I tried to relogin, even restart computer, didn't help. :(

I ran into this question when searching for a similar answer. I found my solution at http://www.ghacks.net/2010/02/18/easy-folder-sharing-in-kde-4-4/ - basically I needed to install kdenetwork-filesharing.
