fish:// and multiple connections

Wed Apr 21, 2010 1:27 pm
I am a long time user of KDE 3.5 (under Gentoo), which has been great. However, I am trying to move over to KDE 4 using Kubuntu which has mostly been ok except for one issue.

I use Konqueror (and now Dolphin as well) to connect to remote servers using fish. Under 3.5 it was fine - no problems whatsoever.

However, under 4.3.5, it is causing me problems. Whenever I connect to the remote box, Konqueror will make the connection, allow me to navigate through one or two directories but then I get kicked off.

Eventually I got some information from the company hosting my server and they say the firewall is kicking me off because there are too many simultaneous connections being made from my IP address. :<

The firewall then keeps me out for 30 mins - very frustrating!

Does anybody know if there is a way of limiting how many connections are made? Can the old fish kio-slave be used rather than the new one. I have never had this problem with 3.5

Any ideas anyone??????

Have you tried simply using ssh:// instead of fish://?

If I do that through Konqueror, it opens up a konsole session for me so I leave the simplicity and ease of use of a gui file system manager behind!

Thanks anyway :)

You might find http://userbase.kde.org/File_transfers helpful, too.
