Why does Knetworkmanager in KDE 4.4.3 not display my active network connection? I'm online and I'm talking to the other computers on my network... but according to Knetworkmanager there are no active connections. What's up with this?

It could possibly be that NetworkManager was not responsible for establishing the connection. Please ensure that the output of the command "nm-tool" contains the output "State: connected".

You need to ensure that NetworkManager is responsible for bringing your internet connection online. Assuming you use a wired connection this should happen automatically, I would recommend contacting your distribution for further information.

I have similar problem. No connection is shown in knetwork manager although nm-tool shows active and connected ones.

If you are using a wired connection, you may need to add a connection using KNetworkManager > Manage Connections > Wired > New.

I don't think it is the right way. All my connections exist under the icon in the tray: eth0 and eth1 and are active. After I added the new one it did not present any status. Moreover, after clicking this new one NM killed itself but the connections remain active. There must be a bug in NM, I suppose.

Yes that is a bug in NM... it appears that hardware connections are created automatically so you can remove that.

Can you please show a screenshot of KNetworkManager being disconnected?

Use KSnapshot to create and save a snapshot of the issue to disk ( you may need to use its timer functionality ) then upload the screenshot somewhere ( imagebin, picasa, etc )

Great! Here you are.
Just look at the link http://picasaweb.google.com/100583222449661340769/Kubuntu#
There you have a Network Manager window with empty connections and output from ifconfig at the same time which presents active connections.

If you right click on the KNetworkManager item in the tray, is your connection shown?

Another place where my connections can be seen is system tray, as on the picture: http://picasaweb.google.com/100583222449661340769/Kubuntu#5472895429286625106
Nowhere else. Right clicking on NM produces no result.

KNetworkManager is displaying two very active connections, as can be seen from "Active" being displayed below "Auto eth0" and "Auto eth1"
