I just upgraded to KDE 4.4 from 4.3 (Kubuntu Karmic to Lucid) and now when opening a file with Kate from a Konqueror FTP window if I hit ctrl-s to save my file it doesn't get saved back to the server. Only after I close the Kate window will it then ask if I want to upload.
I like to keep the window open, hit ctrl-s (on an HTML file) then refresh my browser to see the change. Now I have to close the window and reopen it over and over to try multiple changes. |

If you launch Kate with the FTP url directly does it work?
(Run in Konsole, adjusting the FTP path appropriately)

Yes that worked the way I wanted. I could make a change, hit ctrl-s without closing the kate window and then refresh the browser and the change showed up. Any idea how I could get it to work like that when I invoke kate using FTP in Konqueror? The new way it's working really messes up the flow I've had for several years. |

Please open System Settings > Advanced > File Assocations, and find the association "text/plain" and select "Kate" from the list of possible actions, and select to edit that assocation.
In the "Command" section, ensure that "%U" is used instead of "%f" or anything similar in the arguments to the url.
