I'm just going to keep it simple... why? Is it fixible? Or will I just have to use something like SWAT?

Ah, another Archer :)

You started systemsettings as user, but samba settings can only be changed by root. You appear to be running vanilla KDE, not KDEMOD. To change your samba settings using systemsettings type:

Code: Select all
kdesu systemsettings

That should do it :)

Oh, and could you please mark this thread as solved if the above worked for you - thanks.

Thank you. I actually forgot kdesu existed.

Now there's the issue with not being able to add any users to samba (even though it acts like everything went kosher), although there's no doubt that's an issue with my configuration somewhere.

Again, thanks.

My guess is that they are created but haven't been assigned a samba password. Try

smbpasswd _username_

HTH

Thanks, although I had already tried that. I can't add users via any method. Now that I'm back home I'll do some investigating later.

(sorry for keeping this thread alive)

Cheers.

I can add users through my systemsettings interface...

Perhaps your new samba users aren't listed there? Create them on your archbox without giving them a ~. Now you should/must be able to add them to samba :)
