I read that in kde 4.5 we can choose khtml or webkit for konqueror as native engine.
I realy dont want to switch to webkit as it has some problems like the drop down menus that it cannnot handle. I'm used to khtml and its behavour and i am afraid that with this feature (webkit solution), KDE developers will relax to the webkit and they will not continue to improve khtml. If KDE can improve webkit in KDE its ok i have nothing to say. If KDE will not have any involving in webkit, it will be better to continue khtml. |

As far as I am aware, KDE 4.5 will not include the Webkit KPart. Konqueror will continue to use KHTML at this point in time.

Webkit is already an option in 4.3.5 - go to View>View mode

i tried webkit in konqueror (4.5) and i cant say that is like other browsers with webkit. In gmail i when i click on a link in the message it opens a new window (not a new tab as with khtml) but with an error in javascript block new windows. It does nt matter but when someone says "You can use konqueror with webkit" the reality is that you cant. Personaly i prefere khtml, simply id like to taste gmail with konqueror in standard mode.

There is a (many times) reported bug when Konqueror encounters Javascript heavy sites in WebKit. If you can do without WebKit, KHTML will normally display these sites all right but it is a major inconvenience.
However, Konqueror does have the great advantage over other browsers in that, if you right click on a link, it will let you open that link in another browser. So, if I hit a site which needs WebKit and is Javascript heavy, I open the link in Chromium for the time being.

I am currently using Konqueror(KDE 4.5) with WebKit as main engine, and it works quite well, speedy, and stable. But of course it's not without any problems - "load plugins on demand only" not working and I have to look at all that flash **** in some sites.
