I have been using konqueror almost exclusively as my browser of choice nowadays, along with rekonq (occasionally) and firefox (rarely) but i have some problems with it.
1) i cant get it to see the flashplugin (in ~/.mozilla/plugins). Even if i go to the plugin settings and scan for plugins, flash never appears. nspluginscan finds it, but konqueror cant see it no matter what. I have even tried deleting all KDE related dotfiles in my home. Nothing changed. Any advice how to achieve that? 2) Cookie handling. I like browsing the web without getting cookies from every site i visit, thats why i reject all cookies and whitelist the sites i want to receive from. But for example if i want to receive cookies from forum.kde.org and bugs.kde.org i have to whitelist them both. Is there any way to keep rejecting all cookies, and by whitelisting kde.org be able to receive cookies from forum and bugs? 3) File associations. Whats the optimal way to open text files inside konqueror just by left clicking on them instead of prompting me to open them in kwrite? If i change them will that change affect all other kde applications and what will that mean? Thanks

Try removing ~/.kde4/share/kde4/services
Then run "kbuildsycoca4 --noincremental". Finally, open Konqueror and rescan the plugins.

Sadly it doesnt work. I only get the java plugin just like always. despite the fact that nspluginscan finds it, like i said above. The path to flashplugin doesnt appear in the konqueror plugins dialog. |

Re File associations, it depends on what filetypes your text files have. For example, I have .txt open in Kate and .csv in OpenOffice. You need to make Kwrite the top option for those filetypes which you want to open directly in Kwrite.
That will not affect your ability to right-click to open a file in another program.

Re: File Associations: You can configure different file types to open in the embedded viewer in Konqueror via the File Associations configuration (from either the System Settings, or in Konqueror via Settings -> Configure Konqueror). General categories (like text) will show a pair of options: Show file in embedded viewer, and Show file in separate viewer. For individual file types, you can switch to the Embedding tab to change those settings for that file type. The embedding settings only affect Konqueror while other settings will use the general settings.
