I use KDE 4.4.4, with konqueror 4.4.3. I am trying to find the plugins directory of konqueror so I can put a flash lib file in there. I can't seem to find the real directory konqueror uses because there is no plugins tab under Settings > Configure konqueror. I also need to be able to scan the directory for the new lib file.
Where is the directory, and how do I get my missing plugins tab to show up? Thanks. |

Can you please ensure that any Konqueror, kdebase-apps, kdelibs or khtml packages are installed?
Also, run "kbuildsycoca4 --noincremental" with Konqueror closed.

All the necessary packages you mentioned above seem to be installed, if not I have just now.
I issued "kbuildsycoca4 --noincremental" with no konqueror running. There still is no plugins tab. Maybe my version of konqueror does not have one. It DOES have "Configure Extensions" under Settings, so........ I guess I just need to know where the directory is where konqueror stores all its plugins, as I was able to actually install some plugins from a "konq-plugins" package via debian's package manager, so that they appeared under "Configure Extensions". I want to manually copy the latest adobe flash library file into that directory. |

Konqueror uses "Netscape" plugins ( aka. Firefox plugins ) as far as I am aware. Ensuring Flash is installed into /usr/lib/browser-plugins/ should be sufficient enough to make it work. Also ensure that "nspluginwrapper" is installed.

I don't have a browser-plugins directory under /usr/lib. I wonder where konqueror is running from? It seems the only thing I have that is remotely close to a konqueror directory is ~/.kde/share/apps/konqueror. Here is a directory listing to give you a sense of the contents:
NOTE: ALL CAPS = subdirectory There is nothing plugin-related under "AUTOSAVE" or "PROFILES". |

/home/me/.kde/share/apps/konqueror is your personal stuff, plugins are installed globally.
If you install flash from a package it should create or place the plugin in /usr/lib/browser-plugins, if you install it manually you create the dir or copy into it you can get packages here http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ PS why are you using Konq 4.4.3 under KDE 4.4.4? |

I was under the impression that version 4.4.3 of konqueror was the official supported version on KDE 4.4.4. So, I upgraded konqueror to 4.4.4, the plugins tab now shows, including my libflashplayer.so lib file, and a quick test on youtube revealed perfect support. However, I have a triple-booting system and I can't say the same for my Opensuse 11.2's konqueror, which is also 4.4.4 version. The flash library file is in the right place and this place is known by konqueror, but playing a video on youtube always results in a bug report/debugging window to pop up indicating the nspluginviewer is causing problems. Now, please note that I have uninstalled nspluginwrapper. This is after trips to youtube with nspluginwrapper installed resulted in the same bug report window and lack of playback. The flash lib file is in the proper place on this OS as well. Debian Squeeze does not appear to have a nspluginwrapper package, appearing to integrate netscape interface directly into the new konqueror, with seeming elegance over OpenSUSE. |

Nsplugwrapper is only relevant for 64bit systems so that they can use 32bit plugins (ie flash) - is your openSuse 64bit? Do you have multiple versions of flash installed?
I can only tell you I'm running openSuse 11.3rc 64bit and kde4.5 rc with no problem with youtube in Konqueror. What version of flash are you running? I've got 10.1.53.64-2.1 Recommendation - next week 11.3 (15th) gets released, also add the unstabel repos for kde and go 4.5rc |

I have a 32-bit system. So it's strange that nspluginwrapper got installed. I even uninstalled it, and still get the bug report window/error. ("nspluginviewer....etc etc....restart application")
Just did a check, and it turns out I have KDE 4.4.5 already installed on my OpenSUSE 11.2. It is indicated under sysinfo:/ in konqueror. Maybe global use of something called nspluginviewer is now the default in konqueror 4.4.5/KDE 4.4.5, and kinks still need to be worked out. Iunno.... |
