using an ftp source in dolphin

Sun Aug 22, 2010 7:56 pm
Hi all

A friend has a NAS system at home and he has given me his password to connect to it.
The NAS contains audio and music files.

So and I tried to use this ftp source in Doplhin as network source. I used the ip in dolphin, then after entering the password, I added the ftp to "Places".
So i have it on the left side in dolhin, using the source is not problem, but when I'm trying to play a song directly from the file browser it does not work.

I tried it with Amarok and also with VLC because of it's streaming features.

It seems that the password is not handed over to the Player software.

What can I do? I don't want to browse the source with the webbrowser. I have to download every song and add it separately.

Do you have and idea?

Thanks in advance

You may wish to investigate mounting it using normal system mounting. Not sure if this is available for FTP though.

Well I did it. I used this guide here

http://www.linuxconfig.org/mount-remote ... filesystem

but the access time is very slow. I think ftp ist not a good protocol for this. I better use webDAV or something else.

Thank you for your replay
