Please check that the Network Manager service is running using your distributions tools.
Also, please ensure that "networkmanagement" is listed in the output of "qdbus org.kde.kded /kded loadedModules" if you are using the Network Management applet.

I have the same problem. KDE Network manager became disabled in LinusMint9KDE two days after installation of Linux Mint 9. I don't know how to check that it's running with my distribution tools, and the word "networkmanagement" does not appear in the loadedmodules file; "Networkwatcher" and "networkstatus" appear along with 15 other items.

/etc/resolv.conf only has a comment "Generated by NetworkManager" with nothing following it.

Why is it so hard to find out how to re-enable this network manager?

Thanks.

If you are using KDE Network Management as written for the KDE 4 series, and are using the Network Management Applet, then try running "qdbus org.kde.kded /kded loadModule networkmanagement"

Here is the easy fix, at least for me:
$ cd /var/lib/NetworkManager
edit the file "NetworkManager.state"
Change NetworkingEnabled=false to true
Save
reboot

This is from jkClarkson Sept 2007 in ubuntuforums.org
Thanks jc
Now to get wirelessworking...
