It seems to me that there is a flaw in the design of the bookmark export/import process in Konqueror: I wanted to export my bookmarks, so I opened the bookmark editor, selected File/Export, and was given the choice between exporting IE, Opera, Mozilla, Netscape and HTML bookmarks. Well, being in Konqueror, I thought the best choice from this list would be to choose the HTML format.
Now that I want to reimport my bookmarks in Konqueror, I open again the bookmark editor, go to File/Import and, surprise, I can only opt between IE, Opera, Mozilla, Netscape, which is fine, plus KDE2/3 (which is good for migration purposes), Galeon, but no HTML import ! How am I supposed to do now to retrieve my bookmarks (I have completely reinstalled my machine, and lost my old bookmarks) ? I guess I should have copied the bookmark.xml file instead of exporting, but my opinion is that the GUI tricks the user into thinking that he can safely rely on the bookmark editor to export/import his bookmarks, which is wrong (unless I am missing something?) It seems to me that, at the very least, this HTML export option should be removed. After all, what is it good for if the result cannot be imported back? Of course, a better alternative would be to implement this HTML import... |

Use FF (or maybe Opera) to import the HTML bookmarks then import them into Konqueror from FF (or maybe Opera)
also you might file a bug at bugs.kde.org (note: there is a bug reported for kde3.2 https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=91957) |
