https Opens in local cache

Thu Oct 14, 2010 10:43 pm
Whenever I click a link in KMail or type a link into Krunner I get a copy of the webpage opened from the local cache instead of the Internet copy. I have Opera set as my default browser via systemsettings. Webpages with the http:// protocol seem to open fine. Only problem is those with https:// open from the local cache. https:// works fine if the link is pasted into the browser. Problem only occurs when clicking a link from KDE apps or KRunner...please help!!!

Thanks in Advance.

I've seen many topics with similar problems lately - do you happen to use 4.5.2? Please read viewtopic.php?f=18&t=90713 and the link in the last post in that topic and see if it works.

I am using 4.5.2.

I could try that. However, there doesn't seem to be a .desktop file for Opera. I went to systemsettings --> Workspace Appearance and Behavior --> Default Applications --> Web Browser --> In The Following Browser -->
Then picked Opera from the pick list.
Path to Opera is /usr/bin/opera %U
No desktop file is in that dir

also opera-browser is in the input box for my default browser.

I checked in /usr/share/kde4 subfolders and there is no desktop file there for Opera either. Also, the http.protocol and https.protocol files seem to be identical.

Try searching in /usr/share/applications/ for Opera. When you find it, edit it, and add the following key.

Code: Select all
X-KDE-Protocols=KIO

KDE Sysadmin
