VPN in KNetwork applet

Sun Oct 24, 2010 1:12 pm
Hi,

I cannot use VPN from the KNetworkApplet. It works using another app such as Kvpnc but when I click on the configured vpn in KNetworkApplet nothing happens. Actually, I can see a text saying "activating" appearing below the vpn name and quickly disappearing. It is too fast to be a network timeout or something like that.

I am running openSUSE 11.3 I posted this question also there but no solution was provided.

Any ideas will be appreciated.

NetworkManager has likely declared the connection "Invalid". There is nothing Network Management ( the KDE applet ) can do about this unfortunately. You need to remove and add your connection again to try and fix this.

Please try checking the content of /var/log/daemon.log as well, to see if any indications on why it is failing is output.

I do not have any /var/log/daemon.log

I tried to find which is the replacement in openSUSE without success. Do you have any idea?

Perhaps the needed output will be in /var/log/messages or /var/log/NetworkManager

There is nothing relevant in /var/log/messages.

This is the content of /var/log/NetworkManager.

Unfortunately it seems the relevant output isn't available...
