Since last update of KDE to 4.5.3 I can't get any internet connection without KDE running. I suspect that network manager is the reason.
While this is not to much of an issue, I do from time to time want to work in CLI without KDE running. And sometimes I have to, like if my graphics module brake or something is wrong with KDE/KDM. Anyway it would be nice if it would work as it did before. I have no idea how this could be achieved. I might get my internet working without KDE if I would change from networkmanager to network, but simple
Doesn't resolve this. I guess I would have to go dig deeper into the guts to find what's the problem. But I fear this isn't the most noob-friendly approach. So what if someone even less tech-savvy than me is left in CLI with no network working and nothing?

You may wish to look at "cnetworkmanager" which is a command line client for NetworkManager.
