Konqueror favicons again

Wed Nov 17, 2010 7:45 pm
Hi there,
after deleting a cashe I have some problems with favicons in Konqueror. The favicon is obviously loaded as it is chown in task bar byt not shown on toolbat bookmarks and in the URL input field. Please look at the picture below.

Do you have any idea what is wrong?

Is visiting the websites and restarting Konqueror sufficient to clear this?

No, it is not :-( The strange thing is that favicons are correctly downloaded in kdecashe-${USER}/favicons folder but not shown. I have also tried to update favicons from bookmark manager but without any efect.

Hm, if you remove icon-cache.kcache from /var/tmp/kdecache-$USER/ outside KDE does the behaviour change?

Ok, I have solved it but I don§t know what was the rootcause unfortunately. I did following that finally made it working:

1. exited KDE
2. deleted kdecache, socket and tmp dirs
3. cleaned bookmarks.xml (deleted everyhing between <info>..</info>) + backup of bookmarks.xml
4. deleted .kde4/share/apps/konqueror
5. deleted .kde4/share/config/konq*
6. logged back to KDE
7. started konqueror
8. opened bookmarks editor and File -> Import -> bookmarks from KDE2/3 -> bookmarks.xml

And it works so far :-)

Thanks for your help!
