I know that people are working on importing pidgin logs to kopete but those are not yet fully functional in my view

I would like to have a feature which can import all the yahoo chat history from windows partition by default ( or else if specified)

purpose of the importing feature

1)A person who is shifting from windows to linux will also shift from yahoo messenger, gtalk, trillian to pidgin, kopete, amsn or such stuff
but after migrating people want all their previous history to be intact even with the newer environment( in my case I have something around 17 mb of pidgin logs and some 20 mb of yahoo logs which I cannot just forget) ..because the history may contain soo much information for them ..so they just cant grep it all the time for every simple detail

2) pidgin has a plugin which can import but it doesnt have for yahoo and still the plugin development is in alpha so people cannot rely on that plugin for their sensitive data....and still yahoo is missing in that list

regarding the yahoo decoding I got a link which might be of a help to you people

The most common warning I get when importing pidgin logs to kopete is
Code: Select all
WARNING: Cannot parse date "(02:44:50  IST)". You may want to edit the file containing this date manually. (Example recognized date strings: "05/31/2008 15:24:30".)
WARNING: Cannot parse date "(02:45:06  IST)". You may want to edit the file containing this date manually. (Example recognized date strings: "05/31/2008 15:24:30".)

The importing doesn't work as expected. All the files get appended to one file, there is no importance given to date and time I guess and moreover I got only 2 logs when there are some 80+ test logs when importing

I hope you people understand the problem of the novice users
we the users want kopete to be universal common spot for all the IM stuff so does the history logs

I suggest you report this importing issue at bugs.kde.org so the developers can adjust the importer.
