Hi!
Lately Kopete has become very crucial for me. When I visit the project's page, development seems to have stalled. Like this as news:
Soo, is it still actively developed? Right now I am using 1.0.8.0 under KDE-4.5.4. That was my first question, now I have another regarding usability: I have set up Kopete to open new messages in a new tab in the same window. What sometimes happens is, that during typing, a new tab opens and I fire up the message to the wrong recipent. Extremely unpleasant. I did not find a way to tell Kopete to just open new messages from contacts others that I am chatting with right now, in a *background* tab. Is it possible? I tried every combination with the queues or without, nothing seems to create that behavior. Any help is highly appreciated. Regards, Marcus |

I have more:
I'm not so stupid user, but there are some things that i can't setup...and are so simple!!! I see that msn video call can't be done because they changed the protocol... But I don't understand why all the contact that I've deleted are again in my list, the blocked are unlocked... Where is the button to share files? More over, where is the icon in the bottom of the screen? When i reduce the program...one time there was the icon close to the clock... How could I hide the notification of "contact is typing a message" or "contact send you a message", some of my friends are common to type in sequence: hello how are you ? instead of "hello how are you?" Thank you for help. Maybe, if there is a forum only for kopete could be nice |

Sorry I can't answer any questions of yours, but anyways: I also thought that. I mean it is supposed to be "the" messenger for KDE, right? |

@Martux:
Currently your preferred behaviour (background tab) is indeed not possible. You might want to open a wishlist item on bugs.kde.org @palemmo: I am not using msn myself, a wild guess would be that also the contact states were changed in the protocol. But same here, if in doubt, open a bugreport. As for notifications, go to configure -> notifications, there you will find an entry for "message gets written" which can be disabled. About a Kopete forum, why not, we just need to know if it will be used. You might want to open a poll asking how many would want that, so we can see if it makes sense for this community. There is nothing worse than a nearly empty forum |
