Kubuntu 10.10 can't connect

Thu Dec 23, 2010 1:54 am
I'm attempting to connect to an Actiontec M1000 modem through a Edimax EW-7717Un 300Mbps 802.11n USB adapter, but I cant seem to get past the WEP entry. I have 5 other systems all using Linux and working fine with this adapter so I believe it to be an issue with KDE on this system. I am using Kubuntu on 3 of those systems by the way, so I don't think that this issue would be persistent with a fresh install, but I'd rather not reinstall Kubuntu.

Open Konsole, and type in the following commands, posting their output here:

Code: Select all
dmesg | grep -i firmware
iwconfig

Also, check the content of /var/log/NetworkManager for anything useful.
Finally, try deleting the network from within Network Management ( open System Settings > Network Settings ), and recreating it.

good response but I think I screwed up the Administration system because my login spit out some error and wouldn't log me in, so I will reinstall from a fresh DVD and work on the network later. I can't say as to what went wrong, but it could be an issue with the mirror i used, and I think the network will work if Admin works right.

Thanks any way.
