kopete as a memory hog

Wed Feb 16, 2011 6:34 pm
Since some time now I am using qutim or psi as IM clients due to kopete excessive memory consumption:
If I start to use kopete with my xmpp account I'll have to hard reset my pc within a few hours to a day or two due to kopete slowly eating _all_ my memory and swap.

I have this same issue with two different pcs, either with or without network activity.

Since telepathy is still far to become an end user product and kopete being no more maintained I'd really like to know If this is a known issue and if there are any workarounds, patches and the likes.

I'd also really like to get rid of qutim, psi and the other non kde clients!:)

I experience some memory leaks with Kopete and Jabber as well, however the leaking is not significant enough to my machine to cause it problems. Unfortunately, other than restarting Kopete, I am not aware of any workarounds.
