Sharing a windows printer

Mon Feb 28, 2011 5:15 pm
Hello,
I just started using Kubuntu 10.10.

I finnally managed to get samba working nicely (I have some backed up files on XP computer) using this guide: http://www.ghacks.net/2010/02/18/easy-f ... n-kde-4-4/

I installed the missing: kdenetwork-filesharing and now it works. BUt how do i get the printer to show up?

I went to system settings-> sharing but all settings are greyed out. :< and i mean all.

i used Ubunu (GNOME) before and all worked nicelly. But here i just don't know how to proceed. I am still a bit lost in the menus. I am sure i will get used to it afterall it's only been a day. And i believe this is my final issue to resolve.

You may need to go into CUPS (not accessible through System Settings, your distro may have a configuration tool for it) and enable network sharing. Samba usually has network sharing for printers enabled by default.

I'm just trying out Kubuntu on my old system and I am having the same prblem like yours. Please post the solution (if possible in clear steps).

Thanks in advance
