I followed these instructions:

However, in Configure->Accounts it just says "offline" and it doesn't ever seem to connect.

I have tried over the last few days to make sure it wasn't a server issue, etc.

Any thoughts?

A shot in the dark - gmail require you to use your whole username, you@gmail.com or you@googlemail.com. Did you do that?

I did do that.

It seems to be working today... I'm still confused why it wouldn't have worked for a few days, but I guess I won't complain unless it breaks again
