Hi,
When I'm connected to GTalk from multiple clients (e.g. at home and at work), I have an issue where it keeps disconnecting/reconnecting me (from both ends). I have tested using other clients (tried a few, including the web based client), and this problem doesn't exist. I know that this was never a problem with kopete in the past, as I've been running it like this for years. This has been happening for quite a long time now, so I'm not exactly sure at which point it started (perhaps since KDE 4.x). Thank you |

Does Kopete provide any message "such as unrecoverable error in protocol" or similar when it loses the connection? Very odd for a problem like this to suddenly develop...

If I run kopete from the cli, it prints out:
Unknown signature value: 795 Unknown signature value: 7 Unknown signature value: 7 Unknown signature value: 7 Unknown signature value: 7 every time it disconnects. I've since switched to running Kubuntu on one machine, and gentoo on the other. The problem still persists. It's possible it has something to do with the gentoo build? I'll try it across 2 alternative installations as soon as I have a change. Thank you |

Try changing the resource name. Open Kopete > Settings > Configure Kopete > Accounts. Select your Google Talk account, and press modify. Ensure the default server is overridden to "talk.google.com", using port 5223, and that SSL is enabled. Then in the box named "Resource" which will have the value "Kopete" set, enter something different like Kopete1.
Make sure the "resource" names on both machines do not match, and that the server, port and ssl details are correct.
