Using Konqueror to open links

Tue Apr 26, 2011 9:46 am
Recently Konqueror has stopped using the URL of a link to open the link and uses a link from /var/cache. This means that links do not always display properly.

I have not been able to find a setting which enables me to change this behaviour.

Interesting. Please try running "kbuildsycoca4 --noincremental", as it seems KDE thinks that Konqueror cannot handle remote urls...

Thanks; apart from three at the start, I got loads of error messages relating to YAST2 which has recently been upgraded.

However, the problem has not gone away at the moment. Will post again if it disappears after logging out and logging in.

The messages concerning YaST2 can be safely ignored.

None of the other messages were significant.

I have tried various combinations of settings for Konqueror and KMail where the problem is most noticeable but without any effect. The only way to obtain a direct connection to a link is to set Chromium as the default browser! Perhaps the time has come to file a bug.

What's your setting? Do you have a %U or something like that? If that's the case, try to remove it and see if it works. You can also try to set your default web browser to e.g. /usr/bin/konqueror (reference).

I don't know if it's a bug but agree that it's not a desirable behavior.

Thanks: that link has solved the problem. I had 'konqbrowser' which is what is automatically entered when you select Konqueror from Default applications.

The problem occurred in other contexts; so I had not seen it as connected with KMail.
