As the title says, typing in the name of a file to save in a Save Dialog box in a folder with 1600 pdfs and djvu files is unbearably slow. It appears to be updating/scanning/something after inputting each letter. Is this normal behavior? If so, it should be fixed for performance improvements.

which version of KDE?

What file system are the files stored on?

Is this an internal, attached or network drive?

does it help if you disable previews? view -> preview

KDE 4.6.2, EXT4, internal SATA laptop drive, previews are disabled, nothing else funky occurring.
