I can't seem to find the option to voice chat in Kopete for Kubuntu 11.04. The Call option for google contacts doesn't show at all.
As per last I remember, it was possible to use make a call to google talk contacts by using Kopete in Kubuntu. It was possible via kopete-gcall. But I didn't find kopete-gcall in 11.04. Please help with some ideas about how this can be done and also if there are any other KDE clients that can do the same (make a call to google contacts for voice chat). I am aware about Empathy and Pidgin which I think are gnome based. |

Would like to have my voice-chat back again, too.
I'm on openSuse 11.3 and I know it was working at some time before. Have they taken something out of the package? What am I missing? By the way, on my N900 Jabber voip and videochat work right out of the box. Think they use telepathy. Has anybody some working telepathy-based client like pidgin installed to test it? |

According to
http://www.kde.org/announcements/4.4/pim_network.php it should be possible to make audio/video calls with google talk in kopete:
Have no idea in how to do it. Is there a guide/how-to somewhere? Really need this feature. |

Speaking (heh) of voice... there's an absolute dearth of SIP clients that both (a) look nice and (b) work on KDE. I tried a dozen yesterday; most failed to work in one fashion or another: can't log into my SIP server or they log in but audio fails. Only Twinkle actually lets me complete calls that I can hear -- but it looks bad, being a QT3 app.
I sure hope we get a nice well-integrated SIP client with KDE 4.7. I know there's some work getting the Telepathy framework integrated, once that's in place, perhaps that telepathy-sofiasip package I see in the repositories will work. |

Jitsi always worked for me. But as far as I know, Kopete doesn't support SIP protocol. Am I missing something?

A little Googling revealed some discussion of adding SIP support at one point (http://old.nabble.com/-kopete-devel--SI ... 47099.html), through Decibel integration...but that project has, alas, died...
However, it appears there's an active project to integrate Telepathy into KDE. I hope this succeeds. http://community.kde.org/Real-Time_Comm ... laboration http://martys.typepad.com/blog/2011/06/ ... -land.html |
