Firefox (unwanted) Sandbox?

Fri Jun 10, 2011 1:46 am
Hi,

I don't know if I'm at the right place here, so sorry if not.
I just installed Kubuntu 11.04, no bigger Problems except from Firefox. It's like Firefox is inside a Sandbox, what happens:

- protocols like mailto:, apt: ... are not linked to the right programms
- I can't open any file or the Downloadfolder(right click) within Download Window

I installed it with the package manager and from the Firefox sources, deletes the mozilla folders in my home directory an in /usr/share , still the same.

It seem that firefox doesn't get the right settings while setup.

I believe this is due to Firefox operating in a non-standard manner on a Linux desktop, and using it's own internal system to lookup supported applications. As a result, it will not honour or be aware of KDE applications. It is usually aware of Wine and GNOME applications however...
