Is it even possible to remove / uninstall Konqueror . . . it being in the kdebase or something like that ?

Anyway, I am even having trouble just getting Konqueror off as the default browser,
or adding a widget to the panel with Opera.

Konqueror as it is set up does not treat my email acccount on hotmail very well (this is Fedora 11 KDE . . . I think 4.4.1 KDE)
so I´d greatly appreciate any direction in general for changing the default browser
even if Konqueror still needs to stay somewhere in the distant background.

Thanks.

systemsettings -> default applications -> web browser -> in the following browser ->opera

"adding a widget to the panel with Opera" you mean a short cut? if so just drag it from Kmenu (or Lancelot) to the desktop

I´m still not getting the default browser to ever change . . .

And yes, a shortcut widget to the panel is also another way that I´m trying.

I´m going to try to find what can be done from terminal mode runlevel 3 maybe ?

what is the result of
Code: Select all
printenv|grep browser

what are you doing that opens a browser? some programs might have default browsers in their settings

are you sure konqueror isn't it's own rpm? in my distro it is, what is result of
Code: Select all
rpm -q --whatprovides /usr/bin/konqueror

you could force konqueror to not be accessible by renaming the executable but that only works until the rpm is upgraded - so it would not be a good solution
