Hi!

I'm currently having a problem with Kopete not connecting to a MSN/WLM account.

When I try to connect to that account, Kopete outputs the following error message:
MSN: Error: Passport must have at least one '.' after the '@'!

The email/ID for that account is of the form aaaaaaaa@hotmail.com and has a '.' after the '@'!!!

Even stranger is that I have another MSN/WLM account (also like aaaaaaaa@hotmail.com) configured and Kopete has no problem connecting to it.

I have tried deleting Kopete configuration and reconfiguring without success. Also tried another system but the result is the same. I'm starting to think that this may have something to do with the account configuration on the web side but I'm at a loss as what could it be (yes, I have looked).

Maybe a wise soul in this forum has any tip or clues on how to go about solving this problem.

Edit 1: One more thing. Kopete reports the status of the account as "connecting" and stays that way.
Edit 2: And another. Just installed amsn and it connected to the account with no issues. Also, if I try to connect with Kopete while amsn is connected, amsn disconnect saying that a connection was made from another location. This seems more and more to be an issue/bug in Kopete.

Thanks.

You may want to open a bug in bugs.kde.org. Are there any differences in the two addresses, especially regarding special characters and what not?

Both addresses end in "@hotmail.com". The non working address is composed by nine lower case roman letters (no special characters). The working address is composed by seven lower case roman letters and one underscore.

Thanks.

I don't think it has to do with the formatting of the address, then. Please file a bug to bugs.kde.org.
