Does anybody use the kde-telepathy widgets for facebook or jabber chats?

I just tried this with Kubuntu 11.04 from the daily-build ppa and with OpenSuse on my WeTab (Plasma Active, telepathy from OBS KDE-Playground packages).
In both situations I cannot connect to either Facebook or Jabber. It just shows "could not authenticate".


Does anybody have any hints?

I've installed telepathy today. And gtalk didn't work for me also (authentication issues) but plain jabber (imported from kopete) did.
Also I couldn't register any new protocol (msn , gadu) there is issue during account info filling.
Hopefully such major issues are going to be resolved soon, it's very very promising.

what do you mean with "imported from kopete"? I tried to give telepathy the same settings like in kopete. In kopete jabber works fine, in telepathy not. Are you using SSL?

I had two accounts already set after installing, gtalk and jabber, so I'm guessing that it was imported from kopete. After that I was (and still am) able to connect with plain jaber, checked advanced options and just filled servers field (which was empty >_> (talk.google.com)) in security settings only "require encrypted connection" is checked.

Perhaps thats the reason. But not long to go to 11.10 final

When I try to set plain ICQ, it is not possible at all. KDE-Telepathy complains about possible wrong ID . Thus for me, it is not usable at all.

I know, I can't set anything beside jabber, same issue, its probably due to missing integration with kwallet, such a pain.

Recently, I managed to compile the kde-telepathy stack from the sources. After getting some missing dev-packages, my script from https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=286017 run fine. Now I have a working jabber, facebook, skype-wrapper and kwallet integration.

Just FYI - the Kubuntu daily builds are still broken, please don't try using them as you won't be able to connect to _any_ account.

If you can do Kubuntu packaging, we could surely use your help with fixing it (our current Kubuntu packager is way too busy).
