Hi everyone,

I just tried to make a connection with a L2TP/IPSec Network using the StrongSwan KDE Networkmanager plugin. Unfortunately the connection status stays "Connecting..." without any error messages shown.

I am using Kubuntu 11.10/KDE 4.7.2.
I installed StrongSwan, the Networkmanager Plugin and the StrongSwan Networkmanager extension.
After a system restart I entered the connection data in the KDE Networkmanager.
I downloaded the server certificate file (http://www.giganews.com/vyprvpn/l2tp/gi ... client.p12) and extracted the certificate (openssl pkcs12 -in giganews-client.p12 -out giganews.pem) entering the password ("giganews") at the prompt.
After clicking the connection entry in KDE Networkmanager I entered my password at the connection prompt.

Result: Connection does not get established, instead the connection status stays "Connecting..." without any error messages shown.

Please help me sort this problem out.

UPDATE:
There was no L2TP Daemon installed on my system. I installed xl2tpd and ran it as root, then I tried connecting again which still doesn't work.
Probably this isn't as auto-configuring as I'd like it to be and I have to edit the Daemon's config files...

Thanks,
André
