Hi
I've strated using Kopete, in order to organize better my Facebook, MSN and Skype contacts, and I find it really useful. I have a problem, though: I have manually organized them in different groups. As long as I only use skype and MSN, everything works as expected. Whenever I log into the Facebook account (which uses Jabber), all Facebook contacts are moved to the "Facebook friends" group. Some of those are metacontacts containing also Skype contacts, and they, too, are moved to that group. That makes it difficult, for me, to organize my contacts. Is there a way to disable that automatic movement? I've searched with Google and on this, forum, but found nothing. Kubuntu 11.10 Oneiric, Kopete 1.1.3 (which is the Latest I can get from Kubuntu repositories). TIA for any suggestion |

Since the new Facebook chat system, all jabber contacts are put into the single group "Facebook Friends".
By default Kopete, overrides user assigned groupes with Jabber groups, thus any contact or metacontacts containing a Facebook contacts will automatically moved to only the "Facebook Friends" group. I found this intensely irritating so I re-programmed Kopete, to ignore Facebook jabber groups. I don't have access to upload edits to the repository, but I can send you a fixed lib if you PM me. |

That would be useful, thanks. Couldn't you upload it here, so that everyone who has that problem can find it, and the developers can see it? |

Attachments are limited on the forum unfortunately. Have you tried posting the patch on KDE Reviewboard (http://svn.reviewboard.kde.org/) with the appropriate Kopete group?

Could you post it on pastebin or something more durable, and put the link here? |

I wish it was a default, but apparently it's a hard-coded feature. Sorry for bumping the old thread, but why … does it even do that? Isn't that worth a bug report? |

Likely because Kopete had plans to propagate group changes to the server. Obviously implementations like Facebook's won't support this.
