I have builded the new version of kdelibs-4.8 for Archlinux kdelibs 4.8.0-3. Now Konqueror does not crash at the start up, But I get this error by launching and accesing to any web page:

Code: Select all
There was an error loading the module Página «Acerca de» para Konqueror.
The diagnostics is:
Cannot load library /usr/lib/kde4/konq_aboutpage.so: (libpcre.so.0: no se puede abrir el fichero del objeto compartido: No existe el fichero o el directorio)

I am thinking it is a trouble in the Archlinux's PKGBUILD for building kdelibs. I will ask on the official forum and then I will post here any new data.

It seems that a KDE plugin (the Konqueror about page) cannot locate a library it requires, libpcre. Did you rebuild kde-baseapps at the same time you rebuilt kdelibs? It looks like your system had a major change at some point, and KDE was a casualty of this.

The problem is not only with the konqueror about page. If I set any web page for starting with it, also, konqueror crashes.

I have tried many different ways for compiling kdelibs: in a clean chroot directory, out of a clean chroot directory, changing -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE from debugfull to Release (and "vice versa"), and other ways that I don't remember now, and always I get the same crash. Thus I am guessing the problem could be the flags that I have set for passing with the make command, or something like that.

If you are still seeing the same error message that you originally posted, then it is still having problems loading libpcre - which is a hard requirement of the KHTML rendering engine.

You need to ensure that this library is available and readable on your system to normal users. It also needs to be in a path mentioned in /etc/ld.so.conf (or in a file in /etc/ld.so.conf.d/) or alternately mentioned in LD_LIBRARY_PATH.

I know it's an old topic but recently i have experienced the same bug. I'm under Debian Testing and days ago i have replaced firefox-esr by firefox stable and i have noticed that konqueror have taken the place of FF-esr in the app launcher but after i restart i beggings to have conqueror crashing every time it was launched so i did
Code: Select all
sudo apt install --reinstall konqueror
ant then firefox-stable has been replace in the favorite app from the app launcher and the bug whit konqueror was also resolved at the same time. hop it can help.
