of course based on qt, I'm on gentoo and as all of U no every compile take hours hours hours...so vlc dunno...I love VLC ! any others alternatives will be appreciated...

remember: I hate gtk :P

for KDE there's Dragon player and Kaffeine - but would not call them featured compared to VLC

for qt there's sMplayer and uMplayer, very similar maybe uMplayer is fork of sMplayer don't remember, both should play dvds though iirc not as well as VLC

you could search http://kde-apps.org and http://qt-apps.org for video players

it and sMplayer require mPlayer to be installed, they are only front ends

fyi - other than VLC (which is self contained), video players tend to be front ends to multimedia frameworks like mPlayer, Xine amd GStreamer (though I am not familiar with video players that use GStreamer).

If you have the GStreamer Phonon backend installed, then Dragon Player will play using it.

solved installing mplayer! now can use umplayer...
