Hello,
I'm trying to use my mic under KDE 4,9,0 but experiencing some difficutiel. My Laptop has an internal mic + a plugged in headset. Now, under systemsettings → Multimedia → Phonon → Inpud Device there is the following entry: „Internal Audio Analog Stereo“ „Echo-Channel Source alsa_input.pci-0000_00_ 1b.0.analog-stereo.echo-cancel on Internail Audio Aanalog Stereo" (inactive / not selectable) Clicking on "Test" causes the systemsettings to crash. It seems that the mic on my headset is not recognized, is it? Any suggestions that make my headset work? Thanks! |

Does your headset use standard headphone jacks (3mm) or does it use USB?
If it uses standard headphone jacks, it is possible that the internal microphone is simply disabled when you plug the headset in - otherwise the ALSA driver does not support the headphone jack it would seem. If it uses USB, it definitely should show up seperately.

It uses the standard headphone jacks. But even when the headset is not plugged in the entries are like in the startpost. And, I forgot to mention: The Mic does not work (testet with Audacity). Nothing is recorded.

Can you please post the output of the following command, with the microphone both plugged in and disconnected?

It's exactly the same, with and without the headset:

To make sure it isn't a lower stack issue, can you use "alsamixer" to make sure anything essential isn't muted or turned down too low? Also, please try using arecord (with both devices) to see if you get anything with either the integrated or headset microphones.
