Personally I like Audacity but there are others.

A lot of people say Perl is the thing http://pacpl.sourceforge.net/

Thers is also a HOWTO that might help http://en.linuxreviews.org/HOWTO_Convert_audio_files

All the best and have fun.:-)

Hello, ffmpeg can handle a lot of formats. There are also gui wrappers for it. And sometimes even the command convert can do the magic. It has often surprised me.

In terms of an ffmpeg GUI, I tend to find the Hyper converter, which is now available as a native Qt application. It is available on kde-apps with versions for Linux, Mac & Windows.

I just wanted to let you know, that it isn't a really good idea to convert a file that is already encoded in a lossy format (wma in your case) to another lossy codec...
Also if the wma file contains any DRM "protection" thingys, you probably won't be able to convert it just like that....

The best solution would be, to just rip the CD again, directly to mp3...
