Hello,
I just installed Fedora 18. Then I went and got "EasyLife", which has a bunch of codecs. I installed them. Now, when I insert a DVD in the drive, I get a little box that asks me to choose 1 of 6 actions, one of which is to open the Dragon video player. I do so, and I click on Play Media, Play Disk, and nothing happens. I don't see the disk in the window, there's just an empty white space. What do I need to do to get this to work? Here are the values of some of my libraries: # rpm -qa | egrep "libdvdcss|gstreamer|phonon" gstreamer-plugins-bad-0.10.23-2.fc18.x86_64 gstreamer-plugins-base-0.10.36-3.fc18.x86_64 gstreamer-plugins-bad-nonfree-0.10.23-1.fc18.x86_64 gstreamer1-plugins-good-1.0.7-1.fc18.x86_64 PackageKit-gstreamer-plugin-0.8.6-1.fc18.x86_64 phonon-4.6.0-5.fc18.x86_64 gstreamer-tools-0.10.36-2.fc18.x86_64 gstreamer-plugins-espeak-0.4.0-1.fc18.x86_64 gstreamer-ffmpeg-0.10.13-8.fc18.x86_64 gstreamer-0.10.36-2.fc18.x86_64 libdvdcss-1.2.11-6.fc18.x86_64 qt-gstreamer-0.10.2-2.fc18.x86_64 phonon-backend-gstreamer-4.6.2-1.fc18.x86_64 gstreamer-plugins-bad-free-0.10.23-13.fc18.x86_64 gstreamer1-plugins-bad-free-1.0.3-1.fc18.x86_64 gstreamer-plugins-bad-free-extras-0.10.23-13.fc18.x86_64 gstreamer-plugins-ugly-0.10.19-5.fc18.x86_64 gstreamer1-1.0.3-1.fc18.x86_64 libdvdcss2-1.2.11-6.fc18.x86_64 gstreamer-plugins-good-0.10.31-5.fc18.x86_64 gstreamer1-plugins-base-1.0.3-1.fc18.x86_64 # rpm -qa | egrep -i dragon dragon-4.9.4-1.fc18.x86_64 Here is an example of the kde software versions that I have: kde-workspace-4.10.2-8.fc18.x86_64 kde-runtime-4.10.2-1.fc18.x86_64 Thanks. |

Thanks for the reply. Looks like /dev/dvd did not get created. Strange...

... I also note that there is no /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-cd.rules. Not sure if that's to be expected in Fedora 18, as there's no udev either...

I linked /dev/sr0 to /dev/dvd and it worked. It looks like Fedora changed things a few releases ago and dragon is not in sync with those changes.
Thanks for the help; all I needed to do was create that link and it's good. |

might wish to post a bug with Fedora

The bug in this case is not in Dragon Player or any part of KDE - it is in libdvdread.
