Dragon Player 3: Status?

Fri May 31, 2013 6:07 am
What happened to Dragon Player 3? Dragon player, which was designed a long time ago, does not feel modern today. The video of the work on dragon player 3 looked like KDE might get a decent modern video player. This was like 2 years ago.

Does anybody know the status of the project and/or any current projects to make a good kde video player with slick visuals and modern user experience?

On the gtk/clutter side I've been impressed with the minimalist Audience video player. I'd like to see a slick Qt/QML alternative.

I've checked with the developer of Dragon Player 3. Unfortunately it is held up on Qt 5 and the new generation of Phonon being prepared for Qt 5.
This is necessary because the current approach of Phonon under Qt 4 required an approach which imposed significant performance penalties.
