kdetv without sound

Wed Nov 05, 2008 8:43 pm
Hi,

I have a "TerraTec Cinergy Hybrid T USB XS" TV-Stick and tried to run that with kdetv. But I have no sound. I tried tvtime and with sox I got sound to work. Sox with kdetv did nothing

kdetv has some features I'd like to use so it would be really cool, to get that stick work with it.

I already tried every sound option in kdetv, but no chance.

Here some infos:
OS: Kubuntu 8.04 (KDE 3.5.10)
kdetv 0.8.9

Is there anyone, who could help me? Thanks in advance :)

Ensure that in kdetv: Settings > Configure kdetv... > Sound, the correct mixer driver is set, and that it is correctly configured ( ensure the correct card & card element are selected in particular )

Are there any plans for KDETV rewrite for KDE 4.x?
It's great app. I use it everyday from years and I didn't found something else like this for KDE 4.x for analog TV.

I believe you can find KDETV for KDE 4 in trunk/playground/multimedia/kdetv. However the port was only started by a developer 3 weeks and 4 days ago. Therefore I would say that it is currently only just begun it's journey to KDE 4.

Thanks for your answer.

I tried every single setting. Nothing helped. I don't understand that. Why does it work with tvtime and sox but not with kdetv and sox? That doesn't make any sense for me.

Asking a dumb question here, but the default is muted I believe. Have you unmuted it? Also check your sound card in KMix, i just started kdetv and it changed the volume on some of them.

If those suggestions fail, you may be suffering from what is described here

Hi there,

I checked the mute/unmute issue first ;)

KMix is also fine.

I opened kdetv via console. Here is the output. Perhaps that helps to find the problem:
