Hello

I have Dell Latitude E6320 with docking station and I would like to use headphones with KDE. Iäm using Fedora 19, so KDE version is 4.10.5.

When I plug headphone to the docking station (separate mic and speaker plugs), I cannot hear anything from headphones. Volume control (from task bar) sliders do not have any affect.
Searching with google, there is posts about similar issues, some of those are about alsa, some about pulseaudio etc.

I don't know much which one is used by KDE in Fedora 19.

What is the best way to find out what is the problem?

with or without headphones plugged, status of arecord -l:
$ arecord -l

Does plugging the headphones directly into the system itself work properly?
Also, does the system output audio normally when docked and no headphones are connected?

Thanks for your answer. I was able to figure it out with pavucontrol and new headset. There was nothing wrong with KDE, it was the headphones.
