VLC Phonon backend broken

Mon Nov 11, 2013 3:46 pm
Hi everybody,

After having updated libvlc5 to 1:2.1.0-dmo8 on Debian testing, I got :
Phonon's VLC backend failed to start.

This usually means a problem with your VLC installation, please report a bug with your distributor.

If a Debian user has a solution to solve it, ping me :)

Which Phonon version and KDE version? Since there are several Debian versions out there, you should be more precise in what your installation runs.

Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ...

I'm not a Debian user, but that error could indicate that some of your vlc packages are still at the older version.

So please check that you updated all vlc* packages and libvlccore to 2.1.0.
