I used to have a USB headset so I will have several device in the Phonon multimedia framework.
Here is my setting panel: http://i.imgur.com/5sn6P7O.png

Now I do not want to see the gray device anymore in that panel since I lost my USB headset. How can I remove them in that panel? KDE does not offer such feature for me. And It seems that even the removal of the whole ~/.kde4 does not work for me.

BTW, I'm using the PulseAudio on me system.

Which exact KDE release do you use and on which distribution?

Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ...

Try removing the contents of /var/tmp/kdecache-$USER/libphonon/ and ~/.config/kde.org/libphonon.conf.
Please be aware that removing the second file will likely wipe your preferred devices preferences.

I have remove the second file but it seems that these items are still there.

I cannot found /var/tmp/kdecache-$USER/libphonon/. My user is called cocular and
Code: Select all
tmp # tree /var/tmp/kdecache-cocular
kdecache-cocular

Okay. Have you tried removing ~/.config/kde.org/libphonon.conf in that case? It is possible that the older hardwaredatabase cache file has since been retired.

Please remove ~/.pulse/ outside of KDE - and without Pulseaudio running. This will reset your multimedia device preferences in the process as well unfortunately.

That's seems to work. However, my pulseaudio's config dir is in
Code: Select all
~/.config/pulse
. That's may the reason I haven't done it before.
