I used to have a USB headset so I will have several device in the Phonon multimedia framework.
Here is my setting panel: http://i.imgur.com/5sn6P7O.png Now I do not want to see the gray device anymore in that panel since I lost my USB headset. How can I remove them in that panel? KDE does not offer such feature for me. And It seems that even the removal of the whole ~/.kde4 does not work for me. BTW, I'm using the PulseAudio on me system. |

Which exact KDE release do you use and on which distribution?
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

Try removing the contents of /var/tmp/kdecache-$USER/libphonon/ and ~/.config/kde.org/libphonon.conf.
Please be aware that removing the second file will likely wipe your preferred devices preferences.

Okay. Have you tried removing ~/.config/kde.org/libphonon.conf in that case? It is possible that the older hardwaredatabase cache file has since been retired.

Please remove ~/.pulse/ outside of KDE - and without Pulseaudio running. This will reset your multimedia device preferences in the process as well unfortunately.
