bcooksley Administrator Posts 19765 Karma 87 OS	Re: Cannot find my build in webcam Fri May 02, 2014 1:42 pm Cheese (GNOME application) appears to be unable to detect your webcam. Have you installed all necessary firmware for it to operate? Notes regarding required firmware can often be found in dmesg. KDE Sysadmin [img]content/bcooksley_sig.png[/img]

I do need help for that. Hope the output will help. google01103 Manager Posts 6668 Karma 25	Re: Cannot find my build in webcam Fri May 02, 2014 8:05 pm something happened or is missing between 13.10 and 14.04 I think you're going to need to provide the make and model of the installed webcam for anyone to be able to help my understanding is that the Kernel usually contains the drivers for webcams (correct?) so possibly the newer kernel dropped support or it's a not installed package or needs to be compiled do you have a copy of Windows on it? if so: 1) does the webcam work in Windows 2) using Control Panel or some utility like Speccy see what the cam make and model is OpenSuse Leap 42.1 x64, Plasma 5.x
bcooksley Administrator Posts 19765 Karma 87 OS	Re: Cannot find my build in webcam Fri May 02, 2014 11:31 pm Most webcams now are handled by the uvcvideo driver - which should be included in the system. Can you please provide the output of "lspci -v" and "lsusb -v"? These two commands should be executed as root to ensure their output is complete. KDE Sysadmin [img]content/bcooksley_sig.png[/img]
