Sometimes kmix silently exits, audio itself still works. I usually don't notice until I press a loudness key on my keyboard. How can I make kmix automatically restart after it exited/crashed?
I know how to do it manually - with the command 'kmix'. Its an user-session problem, so an upstart job isn't the solution. Do you have any ideas? If not I would like to know why it exits. Are there any kmix-specific logs? |

does it crash after any particular event?
with kmix closed you can try using kdebugdialog (deselect all, then select all kmix) to see if the unwanted closing of kmix creates any errors messages which would be placed in ~/.xsession-errors you could also rename/delete (with kmix not running) the ~/.kde[4]/share/config/kmixrc file and ~/.kde[4]/share/apps/kmix/folder to see if there's a config issue |

Thanks! I will try that the next time it happens.

you could also run a script in the background that would test every n seconds to see if Kmix was running or not and if not then start it again
Google'ing will provide sample scripts using ps and for loops and I would suggest adding a sleep command https://www.google.com/search?client=op ... d=0CBEQvwU |
